Results from post-Christmas fixtures in NEUAL, six league matches (well five and a bit, see below) and the indoor champs are now fully available.
Sheffield, champions in 2008 won the overall senior league title back in 2010, from 2009 champions Lancaster. Sheffield pipped Lancaster on points aggregate, the pair having finished level on 48 points. By way of consolation, Lancaster did win the NEUAL Indoor Championships. Liverpool unexpectedly picked up third place in the league with 44, Keele on 43, as York were docked half their points they would have won in the league match against Sheffield and Keele, for losing the results. For this reason it is impossible to say by what margin Sheffield actually won the title.
There were individual league match wins for Liverpool (twice), Sheffield, Keele, Lancaster and York.
The top individual score at the league matches was 578 from Rory Campbell (Sheffield) although there was also a 572 and 570 from John Lane (Lancaster). David Jobin (Keele) notched a 560, with additional scores in the 550s from Bob Smith (Liverpool), Michael Bass (Lancaster), Robert Russell (Durham) and Arjun Kharpal (York).
Sheffield claimed the novice crown, with a maximum 60 points for the second year in succession - a tremendous achievement. They finished top novice team at NEUAL Indoors and won two novice league matches. Huddersfield and Durham also won two novice matches each. Keele were second in the novice table on 54 points, with Leeds leading the chasing pack in third place. After picking up only 8 points in their first NEUAL season, Huddersfield's novices completed a first full campaign, in sixth place overall and with 46 points - a commendable achievement.
Considering NEUAL Indoors on it own, Lancaster won the senior event with 2208, exactly fifty points ahead of Sheffield. Will Fortnam (563) and John Lane (560) top scored for Lancaster, whilst Rory Campbell's 574 was enough to ensure Sheffield silver. York scored 2141 to beat Keele to bronze by one solitary point. Huddersfield may have finished bottom of the overall senior table, but they did avoid a complete wooden spoon whitewash, beating Durham here.
As for the novices at NEUAL Indoors, Sheffield romped home with 1549, just over 200 clear of bronze medal winners Keele, with Lancaster on 1467 taking second place.
