As the dust settles on the Rio Olympics, the 2015/16 season is giving way to the 2016/17 one. With the early running of the World Uni Champs, the Lilleshall weekend back in mid June brought the student season to a close. It re-opens on 1st September as Round 1 of E-League runs during September and October.
Dates for BUCS and BUTC in 2017 will be made available as soon as possible.
For the second year on the bounce, Warwick picked up 4 of the 6 available UK-wide team championship titles, with Nottingham and Edinburgh winning the other two. Edinburgh's men's team title at Lilleshall is their return to the winners enclosure after a gap of exactly 4 years. Birmingham, Oxford, Southampton and Loughborough also picked up podium finishes.
Despite their national level success, Warwick didn't win their own regional league title. After a titanic struggle, the BUTTS honours went to Birmingham, for whom 2015/16 was undoubtedly their most successful season to date. Edinburgh recovered from an early season wobble to win SSS again, whilst Swansea won SWWU for only the second time, dropping only one point in the process. Three match wins each took London and Liverpool to their respective titles. In terms of the league organisers, the only change of personnel that is confirmed for next season is David Jenner, who takes over from Mark Ferguson at SWWU HQ.
The UKSAA site will be undergoing its usual refresh during the off-season. Please get in touch with any updates, particularly for the Club Directory. Apologies for the lack of recent updates in recent weeks - normal service should now be resumed.
