The Season Awakens [29/Oct/15]

The spectre of the 2015/16 competitive season is now looming large. Things get started for real this weekend, with the first regional and national events.

Halloween, the 31st October is the last day for scores for E-League Round 1, although they can be submitted up until 5th November. Is there an easy way to remember that date? Results are usually published on the 7th of the successive month. Warwick won 3 of the 5 E-League rounds last season and won the E-League crown for the second time in three years.

Also on 31st October, NUTC will take place. This is a BUTC style knock-out event for NEUAL sides, taking place in Liverpool. This follows the successful BUTC-for-grown-ups that happened at East Anglia in October. East Anglia hosted BUTC in February 2015, also won by Warwick. Lancaster and Liverpool dominated the NEUAL tables last season, whilst Bradford were third, their best NEUAL finish since 2006.

As for BUTC 2016, that will be on Saturday 5th March and hosting news is expected shortly.

The first regular regional fixtures of the season will take place the weekend after NUTC (7th/8th Nov), and NEUAL is once again in the spotlight. The 16 NEUAL teams are split into 3 geographical conferences. The first weekend sees both new clubs, Salford and Central Lancashire in action, up against one another (and Keele) in a NEUAL Western Conference match.

SSS and BUTTS kick off on the weekend of the 14th/15th Nov. SSS league debutantes West of Scotland will be hosts in their first match, with Strathclyde helping out on the organisational side. West of Scotland are the first new full club to join SSS for 10 years. Also that weekend is the second set of NEUAL fixtures (including defending champions Lancaster) plus the first SEAL non-recurve fixture.
