The turkey and mince pies are long digested and the Hogmanay fireworks have faded. Now the second half of the indoor season is now in prospect, i.e. the titles and trophies part. There are no regional league fixtures yet, but the E-League is in action and BUCS Indoors and BUTC are looming - or at least preparing to loom. If you can't quite remember the state of your club's league campaign, check out the December Catch Ups, a series of five editorials.
Scores shot in December or January are eligible for Round 3 of the E-League. These must be submitted by 5th February.
In terms of results from Round 2 there was another Division 1 win for Warwick, with Birmngham not far behind and very comfortably second once again. Loughborough were third and Southampton fourth, the reverse of Round 1, so both now have 15 points overall. London were fifth in the round, whilst Liverpool move up to fifth in the table as things stand.
In the other divisions, Nottingham Trent are the leading A team in Division 2. Plymouth and Teesside's A teams dominate Division 3 with Bristol A top of 4. Nottingham and Oxford both last competed in the E-League in the 2011/12 season, before stopping and drifting down the divisions. However in 2017/18, both are back, starting again in the Conference. Nottingham A, B and C currently occupy the top three slots.
Cambridge are now top of Novice Division 1, with a second consecutive second place. Liverpool won Round 2 and jump up to second overall. Warwick produced their second win in Comound Division 1.
Individually, William Pike (Warwick) and Rebekah Tipping (Birmingham) won in the round and both now lead their respective tables, level on points but ahead on aggregate from their respective team mates Tom Hall and Eleanor Piper. Hannah Burnage (Warwick) is part of a 3 way tie in ladies recurve. David Cunningham and Ellice Jones (both Teesside) both now sit on 40/40 in senior barebow.
This is Tipping's 10th win in an individual E-League round - with 5 for Aberdeen and now 5 for Birmingham - the second highest number of wins from any senior recurve ever. At present, the Monthly Winners spreadsheet (on the E-League page) only tackles recurves, but this will be widened out to include other bowstyles in due course. Jenny Jeppsson (with 20 for Edinburgh) and Rhodri Curnow (8 for Swansea) and the leading all time lady and gent recurve.
BUCS Indoors entries are open until 25th January, with requried qualifying scores now added to UKSAA. The BUTC entry form is expected to be published very shortly, with the final deadline likely to be in early March. As in previous years there will also be an earlier "B team" deadline.
