Results from the first BUTTS league match of the season have been published, see the BUTTS 2017/18 page.
Warwick romped away with maximum points, breaking the 2300 barrier with 2316 to win by nearly 80. William Pike and Tom Hall spearheaded Warwick's charge with scores of 593 and 586 respectively plus support from Sam Armstrong on exactly 570 and Enrik Nako three behind. Nottingham and Loughborough could barely be separated in second and third, with Nottingham eventuall nicking second spot 2238 to 2236. Birmingham finished in fourth sport on 2191, with Oxford fifth back on 2125.
Warwick ended Birmingham's run of seven consecutive BUTTS indoor fixture wins, albeit Birmingham were missing a couple of archers at the Indoor World Cup round in Marrakech. Nottingham's second is their best BUTTS placing for three years.
Jamie Goodliffe (Nottingham) and Eleanor Piper (Birmingham) scored 574, with Pip Taylor (Derby) one point back. Chris Cooper and Arthur Coveney (both Loughborough) both notched in the 560s with ex-Loughborough Phil Middleton (Nottingham) on exactly 560.
In the novice match, Nottingham, Birmingham and Cambridge were the leading three teams. Nottingham took top spot for the first time in a BUTTS novice match since February 2013. Uniquely, BUTTS uses team of 4 rather than 3 as its novice team category.
Elsewhere, NEUAL matches E1 (Huddersfield v Hull v Leeds) and W1 (Salford v UCLan v Keele) have both taken place, with results to follow - although UCLan look to have secured a very tight win over Keele. Match N1 (Newcastle v Durham v Sunderland) was postponed to this coming weekend, alongside matches E2 (Hull v York v Sheffield) and W2 (UCLan v Liverpool v Lancaster). W2 sees the top three teams in last season's Western Conference (5th, 3rd and 1st overall) go head to head.
A fairly busy weekend will see up to 24 sides in action. SSS match 3 takes place at Edinburgh and St Andrews, whilst half of BUTTS match 2 is hosted by Loughborough - Nottingham host the other half a weekend later. Sussex will host a friendly against their new neighbours Brighton.
