Over its 20 year history the B.U.T.T.S League has represented the best of student archery, a highly competitive environment that remains fun for archers of any standard.
When the League began in 1995 there were six member clubs, Birmingham, Warwick, Loughborough, Oxford, Nottingham and Cambridge. In 2007 came Derby and in 2010 Nottingham Trent.
In 2015/2016 the B.U.T.T.S. League will be expanding once more, four new clubs will be joining the league, forming their own separate division. These new clubs will compete against each other at four legs throughout the season, it is hoped that championships can be added to the calendar once the new division is fully established.
The clubs are:
Interclub rivalry in the new division is bound to be strong with Leicester no doubt looking to avenge their varsity defeat by DMU, both clubs are new this year. Lincoln and Northampton are the more established pairing, with the latter having competed at BUCS Indoors since 2014. B.U.T.T.S League clubs have a well-earned reputation for winning and it's hoped that the new clubs will rapidly develop and improve through the friendly competition that the league promotes.
Hopefully the new clubs will enter into the spirit of the league, and who knows we might even see some new traditions emerge to rival the famed Birmingham Mars Bar or the highly competitive boat race!
