Covid-19 restrictions have forced another postponement of BUTC 2021, see BUTC Tournament Info page. It is simply not possible to run BUTC on its previously announced date of Saturday 1st May.
Whilst a new date is yet to be confirmed, BUTC organisers are not cancelling the 2021 edition at this point - although that outcome remains very much on the table. Organisers have been liaising with ArcheryGB and the event sponsors to see how and when the tournament could be held responsibly and indeed legally. Thanks also to hosts Bristol for their efforts so far.
One of the options was to hold the event outdoors and another to have each team on a separate boss for the ranking round. However, even in that configuration, it would have been impossible to proceed without a severe cap on the number of teams competing. The discs will have to wait until Covid-19 restrictions are significantly eased.
As usual, all BUTC announcements will appear on the UKSAA website.
Also appearing on UKSAA will be key contacts from 2021/22 committees, once they have been elected and announced, see the previous editorial "When the well runs dry" for more about that. The first club (that the Editor is aware of) to do that was Coventry, so best of luck to new Club Captain Samuel Bowden and the rest of the committee there.
