There have been a few updates to the Club Directory section of the website over the last few weeks.
Links to clubs' Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts have now been added, where the Editor could find them. For Facebook, links are to Facebook Pages in preference to Facebook Groups. Links were only added to Closed Groups if there was no clear alternative.
Clubs are strongly encouraged to get in contact if there are errors or omissions here.
The Best Results tables underwent their standard update in the "Last 3 years" column, with 2020 results added and 2017 results dropping off. All results in this column now come from the seasons ending in 2018, 2019 and 2020. It is worth noting that the E-League has no results for 2019. BUTC and BUCS Outdoors have no results for 2020. Those 3 tournaments have only have two sets of results contributing towards this column.
Regional league results have been added to the Best Results tables. The regional leagues form such a core part of the student archery experience and this table refresh was a good opportunity to recognise and celebrate the successes of clubs at their local level. It was also the driving factor behind the creation of the Regional League Historical Performances spreadsheet in the Resources section.
The "Since 2007" column has been replaced with "Last 10 years". 2007 was a good line-in-the-sand year for the national tournaments and it was useful to have a column somewhere between "Last 3 years" and "All time". However, as time has gone on, results that were over a decade old have become less relevant. This change allows the importance of those much older results to fade whilst still allowing strong, "recent" performances a longer life span. The oldest results in this middle column currently date from 2011, but these will drop off next year.
Results from BUCS Indoor Regional Qualifying have been included where relevant - BUCS Qualifying results have been added to the National Historical Performances "Last 3 years" but shorter than "All time". Since 2017, BUCS Indoors has split into National Finals and Regional Qualifying, to cope with the ever increasing number of competitors. A large chunk of clubs now do have entire male or female teams qualify for the BUCS Finals event, so DNS (Did Not Shoot) had become an increasingly common entry in the "Last 3 years" column, when DNQ (Did Not Qualify) would have been more accurate. DNS now really does mean DNS and clubs who field full teams but DNQ can still have their performance measured.
It can be awkward to compare results pre and post the introduction of qualifying. Is 5th in local qualifying better or worse than 25th in the old style event? In many cases there are two "best" results listed side by side.
The Editor tried very hard not to make any mistakes, but it seems improbable that none got through. Please do check and get in touch if something is wrong. As always, please contact UKSAA straight away with any regular Club Directory updates, particularly where contact names have changed.
