BUCS, BUTC Champs Latest [14/Oct/20]

With restrictions hitting clubs across the country, BUCS Indoors and BUTC are both attempting to proceed as close to normally as possible for their 2021 championships. Orgnanisers have a tricky job ahead and events might yet overtake everything, although with several months to go it is hard to say anything for certain. For now, the idea is to proceed, knowing that the events could at any stage be cancelled. That is surely better than try to cobble an event together at the last minute.

Please closely monitor the ArcheryGB and BUCS Covid-19 info pages. Links to those have been added to the UKSAA home page.

BUTC organisers are looking for hosts for 2021. Read the Hosting Info page and if your club might be interested, contact UKSAA for a chat first. This doesn't commit you to anything, think of it as a feasability study. Joint bids are welcome and remember that host clubs get first dibs on any B team slots. The deadline for bids is Thursday 29th October. The preferred date for the tournament itself is the weekend of 27th/28th March 2021, with a fall-back of the 27th/28th February.

BUTC 2020 was cancelled due to the Covid-19 lockdown, the first time BUTC has ever not been held since it began in 2003. Reading were the hosts of BUTC 2019. Warwick beat Loughborough 17-13 in the final that year.

The dates and venues for BUCS Indoors qualifying and finals have now all been confirmed by BUCS. The venues are a carbon copy of last year, only the dates have changed. Qualifiers x3 are scheduled for Manchester/MMU (Sat 13th Feb), Napier (Sat 20th Feb) and Bristol (Sun 21st Feb) with the National Finals in Warwick (Sat 13th Mar). Warwick (men's) and Birmingham (women's) won the indoor team events in 2020.

There has also been some movement in terms of BUCS EMG personnel. David Williams moves from running Southern Indoor Qualifying to take over BUCS Outdoors. Williams takes over from the retiring Richard Anderson, and hands the reins of Southern Indoor Qualifying to Jamie Diep. Katya Sephton is now in charge of Central Indoor Qualifying.

An announcement about the details of the E-League 2020/21 is expected in the next few days. Some regional league action is moving to a postal/electronic format, including (so far) all 5 SSS league matches and SWWU match 1.
