Nottingham, Bath claim wins [02/Feb/26]

TOUCAN div 1 match 2 and SWWU match 4 were won by Nottingham and Bath respectively, with Birmingham and Exeter runners up and Loughborough and Bristol won the novice fixtures. Results from NEUAL Indoor Champs have also come out - Keele were the winners - and will be reviewed separately. Results from SSS match 4 will be published when available.

Birmingham had the highest total in the first slice of the Midlands fixture with 2240. That was enough for second overall as a week later Nottingham stormed to a big win scoring 2287. Leicester notched 2210 to finish third - their best individual TOUCAN match result. They were clear of Warwick's 2185, with Loughborough fifth on exactly 2100.

Louisa Piper (Nottingham) top scored in the match with 584. For the second TOUCAN fixture in a row Oliver Hicks (Birmingham) broke the All Unis gents barebow record, beating his own 577 with 581. Alia Fallouh (Leicester) shot 576. There were 6 archers in the 560s: Alessio Cocciolo (Warwick), Emma Howes (Oxford), Sophie Bradford, Ismael Ahmed, Hannah Evans and Tristan Mok (all Nottingham). Bradford and Ahmed were just 1 off 570. Mok was particularly unfortunate to shoot 564, the 8th highest score in the match, but not make Nottingham's team.

These results mean Birmingham stay top by a point. They have 15 points, with Nottingham up to second, with 14. Warwick have 12 and Leicester 11.

In the novice match Loughborough broke the 2006 - only 94 less than their own overall team score. Birmingham were second and both teams now have 15 league points. Top novices were Amber Moores and Ed Daniell (both Loughborough) on 531 and 514.

Meanwhile in SWWU, Bath won match 4 and took what looks like a decisive step towards the senior title. The round was a Worcester, and Bath's total of 1034 was only seriously challenged by Exeter's 1012. Hosts Plymouth were third on 940, pushing Bristol down into fourth. Miles Pemberton (Bath) and Luke Burch (Exeter) were top scorers on 284 and 282 respectively.

Bath were 3 points of Bristol heading into this match and now lead the table by 6. They have 39 out of a possible 40, with Bristol on 33 and Exeter on 32.

In the SWWU novice match, Bristol came out on top with 428, ahead of Exeter on 382 and Swansea's 341. Top individual novice was Jinxi Chen (Bristol). Bristol are top with 20 out of a possible 20 points. Swansea stay second on 17.

The next TOUCAN fixture is div 2 match 2, half of which has already now happened (1st Feb at Trent), with the other half to follow on 8th Feb at Cambridge. SWWU derives its next set of results from BUCS qualifying.
