TOUCAN div 2 match 2 and div 1 match 3 have finished. Nottingham Trent won the div 2 fixture ahead of Cambridge, whilst Birmingham won the div 1 fixture ahead of Nottingham and Warwick.
TOUCAN div 2 match 2 was split over the 1st and 8th February. The two match hosts, Nottingham Trent and Cambridge came out on top, with Trent's 2166 taking top spot ahead of 2134 from the Light Blues. De Montfort and Derby were next, on 2060 and 2022. Top individual was Konstantinos Perikleous (N Trent) who was one off 560. In terms of the TOUCAN div 2 table, the 6 teams all finished in exactly the same order as match 1, so there were no changes in position. Trent have 12 points, Cambridge 10 and De Montfort 8. Cambridge won the TOUCAN div 2 novice fixture, with De Montfort in second. They are first and second overall with 14 and 11 points.
TOUCAN div 1 match 3 was split over the 14th and 21st of February. Nottingham posted 2271 in the first half of the match - with Louisa Piper top scoring in the match on 583. In the second part of the fixture however, Birmingham overtook them with 2282, with barebow Oliver Hicks the top scoring gent in the match on 578. Warwick were third on 2242, with Alessio Cocciolo their top scorer on 576. Leicester were fourth on 2194. They were well ahead of Loughborough's 2125 and Oxford's 2110. All 4 of Birmingham and Nottingham's teams broke 560. Sophie Roberts (Birmingham) hit 574, with Julianna Ostrovska a point under 570. Tristan Mok (Nottingham) scored 565, whilst there were additional totals in the low 560s from Jake O'Reilly (Birmingham), Dominic Kelsey, Jess Wrona (both Nottingham), Jack McKay and Rohit Ravichandran (both Warwick).
In the novice div 1 match, only 28 points covered the top 4, with first and second split by only 2. Birmingham took first place with a (team of 4) score of 1995, with Leiceseter just a shade behind on 1993. Nottingham and Loughborough were third and fourth. Top individuals were Baldip Singh Chohan (Birmingham) on 536 and Skyler Airei (Leicester) with 520.
In terms of the div 1 league standings, with only one fixture remaining, Birmingham have 23 points and Nottingham have 21, although Nottingham have a fractionally higher match aggregate (6779 v 6776). Birmingham will be champions, unless Nottingham beat them by 2 clear places. In other words, second place at the Indoor Champs - that they are hosting - would see Birmingham as league champions for the fourth time and first since 2018. Warwick have 18 points in third, ahead of Leicester, who have 16 and look set for a best ever finish. There's more good news for Birmingham in the novice table. They were level on points with Loughborough heading in to this fixture, but are now 3 points clear.
Even though TOUCAN div 2 match 3 and the combined TOUCAN Indoor Champs are still to come, the promotion and relegation picture is already looking pretty clear. Promotion and relegation between the TOUCAN divisions does NOT depend on number of league points. Instead, all teams are ranked by the average of their best 3 (out of 4) scores from the TOUCAN indoor season. The top 8 become next season's div 1. It looks as though Trent and Cambridge will almost certainly replace Northampton and Coventry. De Montfort would need a big swing, but could conceivably catch either Cambridge or Oxford for that 8th spot.
