Confirmed final NEUAL results [31/Aug/26]

Results from NEUAL matches 2 (shot in Jan/Feb) and 3 (shot late Mar) have been collated and finally published on UKSAA. Keele are NEUAL champions for 2025/26, winning the NEUAL crown, ahead of Lancaster in second, then Liverpool. Sheffield were fourth in the overall standings and pipped Salford to the novice title. Liverpool cruised to a successful defence of their unsighted team title.

In both NEUAL matches 2 and 3, the top team scored around 2200 and had a lead of 50-60 points. Match 2 saw Lancaster win their second match of the season on exactly 2200. There was a close match up for second, with Keele edging ahead of Liverpool 2140 to 2136. Will Addison (Keele) top scored individually with 588. The Red Rose win was powered by Myles Hulme (581) and Jesse Phillips (570). The Manchester clubs were next, with MMU fourth on 2081, clear of Manchester's 2016. They were fifth but did win the novice match with 1319. Salford took second with 1250, with MMU third. In the unsighted match, Liverpool came out on top with 1494 ahead of MMU on 1469 and Manchester on 1437. Myfanwy Fflur (Manchester) was top individual on 551.

Heading in to the final match of the season, Keele (main recurve league) and Liverpool (unsighted) both had 8 point leads. In contrast, the novice table had four teams within 8 of the top, with Lancaster on 86, Salford on 83, Sheffield on 82 and MMU on 78.

In match 3 itself, Keele made absolutely sure of the title, with a score of 2202 to win the match. Sheffield picked up second place in the match on 2151, a little way ahead of Lancaster's 2136 and Liverpool's 2123. Leeds and MMU were the other sides over 2000. William Addison (Keele) top scored with 590, but it was close, with Myles Hulme (Lancaster) on 588. There were 579s for both Will Luddington (Sheffield) and Jesse Phillips (Lancaster), with Lucy Hawkins (Keele) on 569. Outside the leading group, Matthew David (Bradford) hit 572, with Samson Wang (Leeds) on 568. In the novice match Sheffield amassed 1501, to take maximum points ahead of Leeds on 1478, Salford were third on 1422. Lyanne Chung (Leeds) was top novice on 513. Liverpool won the unsighted match, scoring 1505, to finish ahead of Keele on 1483 and MMU on 1467. Myfanwy Fflur (Manchester) and Jack Hutton (Lancaster) were top individuals on 546 and 544.

So where did that leave everyone? Keele took top spot in the overall NEUAL table, with 98 out of a possible 100 points - three wins and two second places saw them home. Lancaster were second on 88. They won the other two matches, but, in an echo of last season, shipped lots of league points at NEUAL Indoors and were left playing catch up. Liverpool finished third on 84, ahead of Sheffield on 79. Behind the leading group, MMU overturned a 5 point deficit to Manchester in the last match to claim 5th.

Keele's overall NEUAL title is their fourth and their first since 2013. Only Sheffield and York (5) have won more. Lancaster finished second overall for the second year in a row. Liverpool were third for the third year in a row. Sheffield were fourth, whilst two clubs recorded their best ever overall NEUAL finishes this year: MMU in 5th (previous best 8th) and Chester in 8th (previous best 11th). Additionally, Sunderland and Durham both made reappearances after periods of absence, albeit partial ones.

In the novice table, Lancaster didn't have any novice in the final match and tumbled from 1st to 6th overall, with Sheffield coming from third place to win, just pipping Salford on the line, 102 league points to 101. The maximum possible is 120 and the volume of points dropped shows just how unpredicatble this NEUAL novice season was. For Sheffield, this is record increasing 6th NEUAL novice title - no-one else has more than 3. Salford meanwhile smashed their best ever NEUAL novice finish (of 7th in 2018) with second place. Liverpool were third on 93.

Liverpool romped home in the unsighted standings, amassing 114 points and 5 match wins. MMU were second on 104, with Keele third on 96. Liverpool successfully defended their Unsighted league title from last year, the first time this has been achieved - albeit the unsighted NEUAL title has only been running for 4 seasons.
