Indoor SWWU Champs [03/Apr/26]

The sixth SWWU leg of the season was the SWWU Indoor Championships, held in Exeter on 7th March. There was an individual H2H, whilst team results for the league match were extracted from the Bray I ranking round.

Bristol scored 975 to win their first SWWU leg of the season. Hosts Exeter were second with 937, pushing league leaders Bath into third with 925. Swansea were fourth. Alex Williams (Bristol) top scored with 270, with Miles Pemberton (Bath) and Julian Chan (Bristol) both getting 255. In the H2H finals, Luke Burch (Exeter) beat Chan in the open recurve final, with Zen Ng (Bath) beating Grace Addicott (Plymouth) in women's recurve.

The novice team element of this match was extremely close, with Bristol and Swansea separated by less than a handful of points. In the end Bristol kept their perfect record this season going with 557, just pipping the 554 of Swansea, with Bath in 3rd. Thilona Jaleeldean (Bristol) was top novice on 221.

Current tables are available on SWWU 2025/26 page. These six matches conclude the indoor SWWU season, but unlike the other regions, SWWU also has outdoor fixtures that contribute to the league standings.

Heading outdoors, Bath's overall lead has been slightly reduced, but they still top the overall standings by 6. They have 57 out of a possible 60, with Bristol (51) and Exeter (50) in second and third. Plymouth are fourth, but are back on 38. Bristol lead the novice table with 4 wins out of 4 and 40 points. Swansea are in second - 7 behind, but 6 ahead of third.

A lot can change outdoors, however. One year ago, SWWU 2024/25 produced one of the closest finishes to a regional league season ever seen, when Bath came from 4 points back with 2 to play, to grab the senior title in an astonishingly close finale. Both the senior and novice tables that year were decided by points aggregate, and with whoever was in 3rd place just 1 league point behind.
