Before we get into some SEAL and BUTTS results, those going to BUCS Indoor Central Qualifying in Manchester on Saturday should pay attention to any travel warnings and also the relevant Covid regulations. Remember your ArcheryGB and student cards too!
East Anglia leapfrogged Imperial back to the top of the senior SEAL table, with a win in SEAL match 3. Meanwhile Coventry won again in BUTTS division 2. Results from SSS match 5 are being held over until SSS Indoor Champs on Sat 27th Feb - a top 4 finish will secure Heriot-Watt a maiden senior title.
Most of SEAL match 3 was held on Sun 13 Feb, with the Essex-hosted section on the following Wednesday. East Anglia were therefore aware of the target in front of them as Surrey posted 2071, thirty ahead of Imperial. In the end UEA's 2119 was more than enough for top spot. Southampton were fourth on 1944, powered by a 574 from Callum Newlands which put him comfortably top scorer in the match. Reading were fifth on 1917. No fewer than 6 clubs did not shoot.
In the novice match, Surrey took top spot by 100 with 1428. Brunel pipped Southampton to second place 1326 to 1324. UEA were 4th on 1280, including 521 from top novice in the match Thomas Rands.
East Anglia have gone back to the senior SEAL summit and have a one point cushion over Imperial, 43 to 42. Surrey's second place keeps them well in the hunt on 41. Reading and Southampton are next, back on 32. The SEAL novice table is proving pretty volatile and is wide open. Surrey are the third different winner from three matches, with even leaders Imperial having dropped 6 league points so far. Full results and updated tables are on the SEAL 2021/22 page.
In BUTTS division 2 match 2, Coventry won with 2049 and although Leicester were second, they were back on 1906. Coventry also had the top novice in the match, with Bo Zhang on 524. This match exactly replicated the overall and novice team orders from match 1 - a fact reflected in the updated league tables. Full results and updated tables are on the BUTTS 2021/22 page.
SEAL, as well as NEUAL and SWWU will extract a set of results from the BUCS qualifying scores. The next BUTTS match is the final div 2 fixture in Northampton on Sat 5th Mar, before BUTTS Indoor championships (featuring all 13 BUTTS clubs) in Loughborough a week later.
