SSS and SWWU had their 4th league match of the season over the last weekend in January. Full results and updated tables are on the SSS 2021/22 and SWWU 2021/22 page. BUTTS division 2 match 1 was also held on that weekend, see BUTTS 2021/22. Heriot-Watt, Bristol and Coventry won the respective fixtures, with St Andrews, Exeter and Leicester runners up.
Reminder also that 5th February is the score submission deadline for Dec/Jan E-League scores.
SWWU's fourth leg was a Frostbite in Exeter but it was Bristol who broke clear in the cold to take top spot in the match with 1129, ahead of the hosts who scored 1045. Bath were third on 1001, but league leaders Cardiff dropped to sixth place, causing their 4 point league lead to evaporate. In fact Exeter, Bristol and Cardiff are now all locked together on 34 league points. Neither Bristol nor Cardiff have previously won the senior SWWU title outright. There are still several SWWU matches to be arranged, mainly outdoors, but the next one will be taken from the BUCS qualifiers.
Swansea won the novice match from Plymouth and the novice Swans now have a 6 point cushion at the top. Top individuals in the match were Alex Rowe (Plymouth) on 329, Will Black (Bristol) on 324. Top novice was Ryan Fleming (Swansea) on 288. Exeter won the compound fixture, but Swansea retain a big lead overall.
In Scotland, Heriot-Watt look to be heading to a maiden SSS league title. Despite only scoring 2066, they won comfortably, with no other team breaking 2000. St Andrews were second on 1993, with Strathclyde on 1958. Aberdeen were fourth on 1913, for whom Rebecca Leigh top scored in the match on 567. Yohann Renault (St Andrews) shot 563. Heriot-Watt are now four points clear of St Andrews, with only one remaining SSS league match - SSS Indoor champs does not count towards the league. Heriot-Watt's best recorded SSS finish is 2nd which they achieve in 2001 and 2004 - they are one of the co-hosts of SSS match 5, so will be able to take the title on home soil.
Edinburgh won the novice and compound matches very comfortably. Edinburgh's novices winning margin was nearly 200 - over a point per arrow. They scored 1502, had both of the top novices in Tom Storey with 524 and Grace Goh with 517 and lead the table by 5 points. Dundee were second in the match ahead of Heriot-Watt, although Heriot-Watt are still two points ahead of them in second overall. St Andrews are seven points clear in the compound table, although Edinburgh did win the match and included a score of 594 from Jake Walsh, just 2 points off the All Unis record.
BUTTS' division 2 teams convened for the first time this season in Leicester, but it was Coventry who were victorious by over 100 points with 2067. Hosts Leicester were second on 1954, Lincoln third and Northampton fourth, with the novice teams in exactly the same order. Coventry novice duo Bo Zhang and David Bosmans scored 516 and 505. Coventry's score would have beaten 4 of the previous weekend's division 1 scores. Leicester would have beaten 3 of them.
This weekend coming sees BUTTS' main division in action, plus the second SEAL non-recurve match.
