BUTC's back and Bristol bound [07/Oct/21]

The entry form for BUTC 2021 has now been published on the BUTC Tournament Info page.

BUTC 2021 will take place on Sunday 31st October - Halloween - in Bristol. Clubs must buy the BUTC entry product from the Bristol SU page and email the entry form word doc to Bristol's club, both by the entry deadline of Wednesday 20th October. The entry fee is £45/team. For 2021 only there is no separate B team entry deadline.

A special note that non-students who graduated this summer are also eligible (to shoot for their former club) as long as they are also ArcheryGB affiliated for 2021/22. This reflects the fact BUTC 2021 should have taken place during the 2020/21 season. Organisers felt that this was particularly important, given the complete cancellation of BUTC 2020. Any queries about individual eligibility to UKSAA please.

As previously announced, this will be only the second BUTC ever to be held in SWWU - and the first in its English half - after Swansea in 2009. Competitively speaking, Bristol have been to the two most recently held BUTCs, 2018 and 2019. They formed part of a SWWU surge in 2018, with fellow debutantes Cardiff and Plymouth. However their best result came the following year in Reading. Jamie Diep, Phoebe Noble and Will Black breezed through 12 discs to 6 in a first round tie against London. In the round of 16 they put in another double digit display, but this time it was not quite enough. They were eliminated in a creditable 15-10 defeat to top seeds and eventual winners Warwick.

There will have been an astonishing 31 month gap between the consecutive BUTCs at Reading (31/Mar/19) and Bristol (31/Oct/21). BUTC 2022 however should happen in its usual March/early April slot, roughly 5 months after BUTC 2021. Organisers are looking for hosts for that, so please do contact UKSAA if you might be interested and you have a hall that fits 16 bosses.
