SEAL match 3 took place over the weekend of the 10th and 11th of February. Southampton (overall) and London (novices) won the fixture, with the tops of both tables becoming closely congested. Three points now covers the top three senior teams, whilst two points covers the top four novice sides. There was also another TOUCAN div 2 match, with Leicester taking top spot again.
Southampton won the match itself very comfortably, scoring 2181 to win by 85 points. Min Seok Kim was Southampton's leading scorer on 561. Imperial and Surrey - who were join leaders after match 2 - were second and third in the match, with Imperial 2096 and Surrey a further 12 behind on 2084. UEA and ARU were the other sides over 2000. UEA were fourth on 2053, thanks to scores of 569 and 563 from Imogen Flitter and Thomas Rands. Charlotte Hempsell scored 566 out of fifth placed ARU's 2023.
Southampton had been 4 poins behind Imperial and Surrey at the top. Winning did cut the gap, but although neither Imperial nor Surrey were over 2100, the pair still finished 2nd and 3rd. Imperial now lead on their own on 42 points, with Surrey on 41 and Southampton on 39. ARU consolidated fourth place in the overall table, as the teams immediately behind them all struggled. ARU have 34 - five behind Southampton, but eight ahead of the chasing pack.
London won the novice match with 1488 - this is London's first novice SEAL match win since November 2019. Jershon Teodoro (London) was top novice in the match on 520. Surrey (1415), Southampton (1391) and Brunel (1321) were next, as the top 4 in the table going into match 3, finished in reverse order (4-3-2-1) in the match itself. Brunel are still top and now have 41 points. Behing them, Southampton have 40, whilst both London and Surrey have 39.

This weekend (10/11 Feb) also saw the second TOUCAN div 2 match. The teams finished in exactly the same order as in match 1, with Leicester and Coventry out in front. Leicester's winning total of 2111 was anchored by a 568 from Alice Haskell. Leicester won by 44 from Coventry's 2067, despite Callum Piggot (Coventry) being the top scorer in the match with 577. Leicester also won the novice match from Coventry.
At the end of this TOUCAN season, there will be some movement between the divisions. Div 1 is moving to 8 teams and Div 2 to 6 teams (currently 9 and 5). Clubs will be allowed to discard their lowest score of the season, but then an average/aggregate will determine where they shoot in 2024/25. It is still tricky to say what might happen here, particularly with TOUCAN div 1 matches 2 and 3 only partially complete.
