E-League results have now been published on the E-League website, however those results are still potentially subject to change. E-League results given below are based on UKSAA's reprocessing of those results, aka the Editor yelling at Excel for a bit. Links in the E-League section of the UKSAA website.
Points were allocated slightly differently this year. Last year it was 20 for 1st individual, 19 for 2nd and so on down to 0 for 21st and below. This year, it was 1 point for the lowest scorer recorded in the month and so on up the chain. This means that the point tallies for each month were variable and didn't have a ceiling.
Oxford won the E-League for the first time, having been runners up in both the previous two seasons. They won four of the five rounds, although fielding an incomplete team in round 5 was nearly very costly. Southampton were second overall, which is their best result since they were E-winners a decade ago. Birmingham were third and Warwick - who won in round 5 - were fourth overall, ahead of Surrey. Leicester completed the leading group of teams in 6th - their best ever finish in any national student event.
Yang Pei (Oxford) became the first gent recurve to lift the E-League title three times. He won 3 out of the 5 rounds and led a Dark Blue podium sweep with team-mates Callum Henfrey and Samuel Walby. Wills Chiu (Warwick) and Frederick Crosby (Southampton) were the other two monthly winners.
In the ladies recurve table, Megan Costall (Birmingham) won 3 rounds, with Roisin Mooney (Bristol) won 2 rounds, but it was Hollie Murdock (Ulster) who won. Neither Costall nor Mooney recorded scores in all 5 rounds and so Murdock's greater consistency over the season saw her become the first archer from a Northern Irish university to win (or indeed record a podium finish at) a UK-wide student event. Alice Haskell (Leicester) was second and Amanda Liu (Oxford) third overall. This is Leicester's first E-League senior recurve podium finish.
There was more NI joy as Kathryn Morton (Ulster) took the ladies barebow title. Morton also won 3 of the individual rounds, making her the first winner of an E-League leg from a NI club. Sam Prettyman (Leicester) won gents barebow in a similar style to Murdock's ladies recurve win. Daniel Kilgallon (UCLan) and Leon Cao (Warwick) won all the individual legs between them, but Prettyman took the overall crown. Aaron Deakin (Surrey) topped the gents compound table. Faye Balcombe (Leicester) won ladies compound. Balcombe came agonisingly close to a clean sweep - taking the first 4 rounds, before finishing second in round 5 by a single point. Oliver Clarke (UCLan) and Jessica Swinton (Leeds) won the longbow titles.
No information has yet been published about the Summer Rankings for 2024, though it is apparently happening. Based on previous years, the Summer Rankings used scores shot between April and August. Best 3 handicap scores, using any standard 6 dozen (or more) round.
