Match 2 of TOUCAN divisions 1 and 2 have both now concluded. The div 1 fixture took place over three successive Saturdays in January, with the div 2 fixture all on Sat 1st Feb.
In the div 1 match, the top four teams landed only 41 points apart. Warwick posted a tally of 2214 in the first slice of the fixture and that proved to be enough and they held on to take maximum points. Birmingham scored 2188 a week later, with Loughborough exactly matching it a week after that. Loughborough took second spot 240 hits as against 239. Leicester score 2173 to come fourth - their best finish at a TOUCAN match so far in their first div 1 campaign. Oxford were the last team over 2100, fifth on 2134.
Callum Piggot (Coventry) was the top individual in the match by some distance with 592 - following on from his 590 in match 1. Piggot was a full 20 clear of Megan Costall (Birmingham) who scored 572. Jiaxuan Zhou (Warwick) led his side home with exactly 570, with Emma Howes (Oxford) on 567. A trio of archers all finished on 564: Alice Haskell (Leicester), Rohit Ravichandran (Warwick) and Ecaterina Pogorenii (Oxford), with Ellie Noble (Warwick) two behind.
The team rankings in match 2 were decidedly different from those in match 1, particularly for Nottingham (1st & 7th) and Loughborough (6th & 2nd). It leaves Warwick (14 league points) and Birmingham (13) a little way in the front in the overall TOUCAN div 1 table, although all that could change. The middle section of the table is extremely congested, with only one league point covering Loughborough, Nottingham, Oxford and Leicester.
In the division 2 fixture, hosts Northampton came out on top with 1985. De Montfort scored 1962. They now lead the div 2 table with 11 league points. DMU are top on match aggregate - narrowly. However, with one eye on possible promotion/relegation, Northampton are actually in pole position as clubs can discard their lowest score.
In the equivalent novice TOUCAN fixtures, Loughborough picked up their second win with a team of 4 Portsmouth tally of 1870, well over 100 points clear. De Montfort from div 2 were actually the second highest total across the 14 teams on 1744. Birmingham and Warwick were also in the low 1700s, second and third in the div 1 match. Daniel Leonard (Loughborough) was the top scorer in the div 1 match, although Ahmed Zidan (Northampton) was the top novice score in div 2 and overall with 530. Loughborough lead the div 1 table with a maximum 16 points - Warwick and Birmingham both have 13. De Montfort lead the div 2 novice table with a maximum 12 points.
