League Points in January Sales [23/Jan/09]

Traditionally February and March are the busiest months in the student archer's diary but the regional leagues are off and running again in January, with the first fixtures on the weekend of the 24th and 25th. There are plenty of points to play for and whilst nothing can be decided this early, all these results will feed into the third round of ELeague, December/January. Scores must be submitted by Thu 5th Feb, the same date as entries for BUCS Indoors are due in.

Starting in Scotland, Dundee and St Andrews travel west to Strathclyde on the Sat 7th Feb, postponed from 24th Jan. A home win for Strathclyde would see them temporarily clear at top of SUS. Actually on 24th Jan, the second IIVL leg will be at NUI Galway. Southampton at home to Reading and Surrey was scheduled for the following day but has now been postponed until Sat 14th Feb. [Paragraph updated again 28/Jan/09]

On the 31st Jan, Oxford v Nottingham v Loughborough v Cambridge sees the dark blues at home, looking to avenge their defeat earlier this season to Cambridge. Last year the second Oxbridge derby finished on 2197 apiece, Oxford winning on golds. A win for Nottingham in the match would put them two points clear at the top of the table, but with their two remaining fixtures both featuring Warwick. Napier v Heriot-Watt v Strathclyde was originally scheduled for the 31st, but has been postponed to Sat 14th Mar, with Strathclyde now hosting.

Imperial v Surrey v Reading is now at Surrey on 31st January - this match will see SEAL's two unbeaten sides go up against one another. Surrey could all but clinch the SEAL senior title with victory. [Paragraph added 24/Jan/09]

There is also the third round of NEUAL fixtures scheduled to take place over the two weekends, including Lancaster at home to defending champions Sheffield and early pace setters Liverpool. The other two fixtures are Keele v Leeds v Huddersfield and Bradford v Durham v York.
