Results for SSS match 3 were recently published on the SSS 2018/19 page. Similarly the BUTTS Div 2 first fixture took place, see the BUTTS 2018/19 page.
Host side De Montfort ran out very comfortable winners of the BUTTS Division 2 match 1 with 2084. Northampton were second on 1849, with Leicester, Lincoln and Coventry also shooting. De Montfort outscored 3 of the 4 teams involved in the first half of BUTTS main division match 3 this weekend. Ffion Edgeley (De Montfort) was top individual on 536.
There have now been three BUTTS "Division 2" fixtures (Feb 2016, Apr 2018 and Jan 2019) with De Montfort and Northampton first and second in all three.
In Scotland, Edinburgh became the third different SSS match-winners in three matches. The top three clubs were within 40 of each other. Edinburgh scored 2137, with St Andrews second on 2110 and Dundee third on precisely 2100. Paul Ross (St Andrews) was the match's top scorer with 573, helping ensure that St Andrews only ceded 1 point to Edinburgh. Napier and Strathclyde (first and second in match 2) were fourth and fifth, each landing a few points either side of 2000. Andrew Smith (Napier) hit exactly 560, whilst Guillaume Andrieux (Glasgow) scored 567.
With 2 matches to go, Edinburgh have 42 points and St Andrews have 41. Dundee's first podium of the season has propelled them into mix for third place with Strathclyde and Napier.
In the parallel novice match, Edinburgh led the way with 1385, clear of Napier's 1328. Heriot-Watt just held on to third place in the match and the three Edinburgh-based clubs thus maintain their 1-2-3 in the overall novice table. Edinburgh lead Napier by 2 points with 2 matches remaining, but a significant aggregate advantage means that Edinburgh are strong favourites to retain their title.
If Edinburgh are struggling to dominate SSS recurve, their compounders are having no such difficulty. Edinburgh won their third straight match to go 6 points clear at the top, albeit this time winning margin was down from 40 & 47 to 15. Heriot-Watt were second in the match, with Strathclyde third - the clubs are the other way round in the table. Ove Schoeppner (Edinburgh) was top individual on 576.
SSS reconvenes on the weekend ahead (26/27 Jan) and for the first time, the round used will be a Worcester. This appears to be the first use of the Worcester at a regional league fixture - certainly SSS has never previously deviated from Portsmouths for indoor rounds. Also next weekend is the second half of BUTTS match 3. Oxford's 2159 leads so far - Birmingham, Warwick and both Nottinghams are still to shoot. Three NEUAL matches (Leeds vs Huddersfield, UCLan vs Liverpool and Teesside vs Northumbria) are also scheduled.
