August Update [13/Aug/19]
This is usually the quietest time of year for the UKSAA website, albeit this year, the Student National Rankings competition is running (more about that below) and there was a SWWU "Summer Slam". This was an informal 720/H2H hosted by Bristol. Just under 30 attended - no mean feat in peak holiday season - results for that are in the Other Fixtures section.
In the meantime, now is a good time to send in any Club Directory updates.
A word about the E-League. Even though we are now in August, the E-League results for February and March have still not yet been published. Efforts to contact the organisers have been unsuccessful thus far.
Conceptually, the E-League is a very strong format. It is the only competition that pitches clubs from all over the country together on a regular basis. It should be the largest competition of the year, rewarding clubs and individuals who take full part. It first emerged as a big spreadsheet in the autumn of 2002, but there can be little doubt that its current iteration is at risk of failure. The EMG has expressed interest in running the E-League next season, but whether this is a direct continuation or if there is something of a franchise reboot, remains to be seen.
Full details of how to enter the Student National Rankings competition are available, but the organisers have noted a high number of (very obviously) ineligible returns. All scores must be min 6 dozen outdoor rounds. However amongst the scores that have been wrongly submitted are Portsmouths, Worcesters, WA18s and even a Head to Head. Please help the organisers by submitting valid scores with correctly calculated handicaps.
Scores must be shot by 30th Aug (now only 2 weekends away) and submitted by 30th Sep.
Also, as previously confirmed, the next meeting of the EMG will be on 1st September. Ben Horner has replaced Kieran Dexter in charge of the BUCS Indoor Finals, with Adam Trott taking on Horner's former role as BUCS Indoor Northern Regional Qualifying organiser.
