Three leagues, BUTTS, SEAL and the E, have all declared third round results in the last few days. Today we move South and East.
SEAL match 3 was held across 5 different venues on the weekend of the 8th/9th of February, see the fully updated SEAL 2019/20 page.
For the third match in a row, Imperial and East Anglia finished first and second, with the look of the overall league table progressing as you might expect. Imperial's winning total was 2184, with East Anglia the closest challengers on 2130. Essex who had broken 2100 and finished third in their first two SEAL matches, slipped to fourth with 2036 - a full 60 points behind Southampton who were third on 2096. The damage though could have been worse - a further 14 point drop would have seen them drop behind Portsmouth (2033) and London (2023). Curiously, all of the leading 6 sides shot on the Sunday.
Lauren Bann (Essex) top scored in the match with 579. Samuel Walby (Imperial) contributed 565 of his side's winning total, whilst 567 from Piers Skilton and 565 from Charis Charalambous (both East Anglia) powereded the Norwich-based club to second spot.
Imperial now have a 3 point lead over East Anglia with 2 matches to go. Even if UEA were to win the last two legs, two second placed finishes would see Imperial win the senior SEAL title for a record extending 7th time. No other side has got within 80 points of Imperial yet.
SEAL novice table is altogether a lot closer. Imperial won match 3 itself by exactly 100 points with 1486 and as previous leaders Southampton were second, the pair go level at the top. Portsmouth (1369) and London (1324) were third and fourth in the match and rose to fourth and third in the table. Lok Lau (Imperial) was top individual on 509.
The next SEAL fixture will be extracted from BUCS regional qualifying events. SWWU and NEUAL will be doing the same.
