June Update [26/Jun/20]

Over the last couple of weeks, bedraggled student archers up and down the land ought to have been drying out their earthly possessions, post BUCS Outdoors. Instead there has been little to do, other than check Shropshire weather online and think about what might have been. The cancellation of the 2020 editions of BUTC and BUCS Outdoors mean that trophies and medals, yellow discs and BUCS points all went unclaimed.

Had BUCS Outdoors gone ahead, Warwick and Birmingham would have been favourites to replicate their successes of the last few tournaments and pick up the men's and women's team titles. As at the Indoors, it seems likely that Loughborough and Plymouth (men's) and Warwick and Nottingham (women's) would have been the leading challengers. In terms of the Werner Beiter trophy, it's hard to look past last season's semi-finalists (Warwick, Loughborough, Plymouth and Birmingham) although it would have been interesting to see how a full strength East Anglia and St Andrews might have fared.

In news about things that have happened, the new team of SWWU organisers for the 2020/21 season will be an all Welsh (University) affair. Matt Walker, Keely Pringle (both Swansea) and Becca Eckles (Cardiff) will take over from Connor Williams (Exeter), Matt Butler (Swansea) and Tom Braxton (Leeds, ex-Cardiff). For next season, SWWU may also expand as they are engaging with new, or new-ish, clubs at West of England aka UWE, Bournemouth, Cardiff Met. and also Trinity St. David. Trinity St. David have now been added to the Club Directory. They are the second new Welsh entry this season, alongside Cardiff Met, bringing the total number of Welsh clubs listed to six.

If you do see any out-of-date info in the Club Directory, particularly contact/committee details, don't grumble! Email UKSAA instead, preferably armed with some up-to-date info.

The Club "Best Results" tables are also now due an update, although the "Last 3 seasons" column may (once updated) now only contain data for 2 events as final results for the E-League 2018/19 were never published and BUTC and BUCS Outdoors 2020 never happened. Only BUCS Indoors has happened 3 times in the last 3 years.
