Welcome one, welcome all to the 2019/20 season.
BUCS have confirmed that the Indoor Championship's National Finals event will be hosted by Warwick on Saturday 14th March 2020, see UKSAA's BUCS Indoor section and BUCS' Upcoming Season page. Warwick are the defending men's team champions at BUCS Indoors, a title they have won 4 times in the last 5 years. Warwick have never physically hosted BUCS Indoors before, but did host BUTC in both 2006 and 2012.
The exact details of the Regional Qualification events is yet to be confirmed by BUCS. They will take place over some/all of Saturday 15th and Saturday 22nd/Sunday 23rd of February. An announcement is expected by early October.
To be eligible to shoot in the Regional Qualification events, a "pre-qualifying" score is needed. Full details are on the BUCS website, but these need to have been shot under normal competition conditions. Numerically, the minimum scores are the same as in previous years, see the table in the BUCS Indoors section. Senior/novice recurves need to have shot a minimum of a 400/277 Portsmouth. The window for entries will open Tuesday 26th November 2019 and close on Tuesday 21st January 2020.
Expressions of interest in hosting BUTC - non-binding of course - are welcome. Email UKSAA in the first instance. A preferred date for the tournament and a bid deadline date will be announced separately. For more details, see BUTC Hosting Info page.
Scores for the Student National Rankings can be entered up until 30th September. Remember that your scores (and correctly calculated handicaps) must be for an Outdoor round that was at least 6 dozen arrows in length. The deadline for shooting them was the end of August.
For the last few seasons, the BUTTS League have run a Field Championships in October. This year, lead organiser Jack Atkinson (Cambridge) is hoping to expand the scope of the event nationwide. The exact date and location are still being confirmed, but may well be Sat 26th Oct at Daventry Rugby Club.
The shoot will be a WA Mixed round with a team award for clubs with 1 compound, 1 recurve and 1 barebow. Because of the timing right at the start of the academic year it is only open to experienced archers. Link to Facebook Event. Field archery is more or less non-existent in the student calendar, so hopefully this event will attract a big audience.
