Summer Rankings and NUTC [11/Nov/22]

Between April and August, archers could shoot at any competition. They then choose their 3 scores with the lowest handicaps to submit - the combined totals of the handicaps was used to rank people in their respective categories.

Yang Pei (Oxford) was top of the gents recurves with an aggregate of 69. This rounded off an excellent season for Pei, who also won the BUCS Indoors and E-League gent recurve titles. Ben Evans (Loughborough) was second on 73, with last year's runner up Tom Braxton (Leeds) taking third spot on 82. Alex Rowe (Plymouth), Dominic Kelsey (Nottingham) and Samson Wang (Leeds) were all in 80s from 4th to 6th.

A strong display from Louisa Piper (Nottingham) saw her take top spot in the ladies recurve with a 3 score handicap aggregate of only 48. Shauna Punjabi (Royal Holloway) was runner up on 76, with Lauren Rawlings (Chester) third on 81. In fact these are the same three women, in the same order as finished 1-2-3 at BUCS Outdoors. Chasing ther top three were Hannah Evans (Nottingham), Ffion Edgeley (Loughborough), Charlotte Llewellyn-Smith (Durham) and Hannah Burnage all going sub-90 for their three score aggregate.

A total of 58 archers took part, up from 41 last year.

Also having recently published results, was NUTC, the NEUAL equivalent of BUTC. Top seeds Sheffield (Sum Hin Moses Chung, Jack Wells and Kian Eshraghi-Yazdi) beat Lancaster (Konstantinos Charalambous, Jesse Phillips, Katie Roadknight) in the final. Nine different teams took part, with B and C teams boosting the total number of teams present to 15. Sheffield beat tournament hosts Liverpool in one semi final, whilst Lancaster beat Leeds in the other. Leeds went on to take bronze and they also had the top qualifier Samson Wang on 284.

NEUAL is the traditional curtain raiser to the NEUAL season. The NEUAL Novice Champs are in Bradford on 26th Nov, with NEUAL match 1 looking like it will be spread across the weekends of the 26th Nov and 3rd Dec.

Results from SWWU match 1 are currently being collated. There has been a venue change for SSS match 3 with St Andrews taking over from Edinburgh. Match hosts are now St Andrews and Dundee. This coming weekend (12th/13th Nov) sees SEAL non-recurve match 1 at Surrey and a friendly between Salford and Manchester.
