Results from BUTTS league match 3 have been published. In the match itself, Oxford took top spot narrowly from Nottingham. The Dark Blues also overtook Nottingham at the top of the BUTTS league table. The overall BUTTS table is now finely poised with only one match to go. BUTTS match 3 was split over the weekends of 28th January and 4th February.
For the second consecutive match, Oxford finished a whisker short of 2300, this time with 2298. Nottingham were about an arrow value behind, again on 2287. Behind the top two, Birmingham produced their best aggregate of the BUTTS season so far with 2220 to place third. A Woodgate-less Warwick and Loughborough both racked up 2151 points with Warwick nabbing fourth sport on golds 85-82. Nottingham Trent and Cambridge made it seven BUTTS clubs over 2100.
See BUTTS 2022/23 page for updated tables. Oxford now have 26 league points to Nottingham's 25 - both clubs are vying for a third senior BUTTS league title. In order to overhaul Oxford, Nottingham must finish ahead of them by at least 3 points (and/or by 2 places) as the Dark Blues have a tiny match aggregate lead, 6853-6850. The remaining fixture for the main division of BUTTS clubs is BUTTS Indoors, now on Sun 26th Mar in Oxford. There are still two BUTTS div 2 fixtures to go before then, at Coventry and Northampton.
Louisa Piper (Nottingham) was top individual scorer in the match with 592. Top gent was Yang Pei (Oxford) on 581. Pei's team-mates Callum Henfrey and Ecaterina Pogorenii posted matching 575s. Ben Evans (Loughborough) and Luca Anghelache (N Trent) both scored 571, whilst there were 8 more scores in the 560s. High 560s came from Samuel Walby (Oxford), Hannah Evans, Charlotte Chard (both Nottingham), Zinan Ni (Birmingham) and Wills Chiu (Warwick). Lower 560s came from Joshua Morris-Jones (N Trent), Mohammed Ahmed (Nottingham) and John Wong (Birmingham).
In the novice match, Birmingham ran away with the victory. Their team of 4 total of 2092 gave them a winning margin of 115 over the field and the top three individual novices were Emily Nichols 542, Guy O'Keefe 535 and Alia Ghosheh 525, all from Birmingham. Oxford pipped Warwick to second in the match. In the overall table Birmingham have a maximum 27 points, Oxford have 21 and Warwick 19.
