A new website has been published for the E-League (and Summer Rankings), alongside results for E-League Round 1. Taken together as the Student Virtual Competitions, the E-League and Summer Rankings are under the stewardship of EMG member Jordanna Marsh.
SWWU match 2 results (26th Nov) are also live. Exeter narrowly pipped Bristol and go top.
Nottingham got their E-League title defence off to the best possible start by taking maximum points in the first round. Nottingham's E-League score - the sum of the the top 4 individual's highest scores during the round - was 2307. Oxford were second, in close pursuit with 2298. Warwick were third on 2269. Birmingham were the only other club to break 2200 and made it a all BUTTS top 4. Bristol, East Anglia and Royal Holloway were all in the 2100s. In total 27 clubs entered.
In the individual standings there were some familiar names at the top of the lists James Woodgate (Warwick) was first in round 1, with Yang Pei (Oxford) second and Dominic Kelsey (Nottingham) third. In the ladies recurve division Louisa Piper and Hannah Evans (both Nottingham) are first and third, either side of Shauna Punjabi (Royal Holloway).
As before, all A teams are bundled into one big division, Division 1. B and C overall teams are bundled in a separate division, Division 2. There is also a separate Novice Division. There are also individual categories, split by bowstyle, experienced and gender. There are 5 rounds throughout the indoor season, 1 September/October, 2 November, 3 December/January, 4 February and 5 March. Scores must be submitted by the 7th of the following month to be accepted.
To enter scores, clubs should update the appropriate tab of the shared spreadsheet that they were sent a link to. If your club hasn't joined the E-League yet, it's not too late to do so. If you get stuck, email the organiser at studentvirtualcompetitions@@gmail.com.
See the E-League section of this site for full details/links.
SWWU match 2 took place in Swansea on 26th November and Exeter scored a narrow 6 point win over Bristol 2123 against 2117, with Bath a little behind on 2075. UWE were fourth, a few points under 2000. There were no scores over 560, but the result means that Exeter leapfrog Bath at the top of the table. Exeter have 19 league points, Bath 18 points and Bristol 17 points, heading in to SWWU match 3 on 11th December, see SWWU 2022/23 page.
In concerning news, Cardiff, who have not taken part in either of the two SWWU league fixture to date, have apparently lost access to their venue. The club is trying to build partnerships with local adult clubs. Cardiff finished second in SWWU in 2021/22.
