Points of Order for 2012 [11/Jan/12]

The closing date to enter online for BUCS Indoor Champs has been put back a week to Thursday 26th January, not the 19th January as previously advertised. Aberystwyth are hosting the competition remotely at Telford in Shropshire (not far from Lilleshall) on Saturday 18th February. AFS will once again be assisting behind the scenes and are themselves keen to recruit new members from a varity of universities.

In other BUCS news, archery events co-ordinator Chris Roberts is moving to a position at Roehampton University from 27th Jan. Whilst a replacement is found enquiries should go to Ed Curran, BUCS' Sports Manager for archery. Chris has been in the position since December 2010 and we wish him well in his new job.

BUTC entry forms are going to be released shortly, however there is poised to be a slight change to the process of the allocation of slots to B teams. These will no longer be allocated on a first come first served basis - this is because the competition has been so heavily oversubscribed that clubs have been at the mercy of a postal lottery, since even sending the entry form off on the same day it is released would not guarantee a space.

This time, only A team entries will be considered in the first instance. There will be a final deadline a few weeks before the competition. A random draw will then allocate any remaining slots (and 1st, 2nd, 3rd reserve slots) to B teams, assuming that the entry form was received by a "B team ballot deadline" that will be shortly after the forms are released. In other words, if it's a lottery, let's make it a proper lottery and not a race to the postbox. There is no advantage to getting your entry form in first, but if you would like a B team, beat the first deadline. Or volunteer to host BUTC 2013.

Precise dates will be on the entry forms themselves, though the tradition of allocating the first B team slot to the host club is set to remain.
