Edinburgh were the convincing winners of the first SUS match of the season and the first round of E-League. As SUS dipped its toes into the all v all split venue format, Edinburgh broke 2200 at the first time of asking, helped by scores in the 560s from Margaux Mesle and Douglas Jardine and 555 from Robbie Crick. This is an impressive total so early in the year and with a "SUS strength" side on show. A solid team performance from Napier meant that Edinburgh's winning margin was kept in double digits - just about - Napier were 97 behind on 2118. A further 35 points behind them, in third place, were Aberdeen on 2083.
Away from Edinburgh, top scorers in the match were Johan Kangasniemi (Aberdeen) and Jamie Paton (Strathclyde) on 555 and 554. Edinburgh also won the novice match, with St Andrews claiming second place, Dundee third. See the latest SUS tables.
Edinburgh put in a good score to take maximum points in the first round of the E-League, with newly promoted Southampton enjoying their first outing in Division 1 in second. BUTTS clubs occupy the next six places, with Warwick and Oxford third and fourth. Bath put in the best A team score in Division 2, whilst Birmingham pipped Edinburgh to maximum points in Novice Division 1. Top senior individual recurves after one round are Matthew Langton (Oxford) and Migle Petruskeviciute (Edinburgh).
Edinburgh also hosted the Griftsmouth a competition scored once as Porstmouth and simultaneously as a Griftsmouth with silly rules (e.g. odd numbers count negative, arrows in the red count double). Griftsmouth winners were Douglas Jardine (Edinburgh) on 455 just ahead of Jules Coynel (Napier) on 451. The prize for biggest difference went to Robbie Crick (Edinburgh) with 439 - (P 520, G 81). For the results in full see 2011/12 Other Fixtures.
The next batch of fixtures are at Edinburgh and Heriot-Watt on Sat 19th Nov.
Warwick are leading after the first half of the first BUTTS match, with the second to come this weekend. Scores will be released once all the totals are in. No results have yet emerged for any NEUAL fixutres that have taken place - the first four fixtures, featuring all 12 clubs were scheduled to take place over the weekends of the 12th and 19th Nov. Also the Stag Hill Open is in Guildford on Saturday.
