Brunel University Archery Club has dropped out of existence. Whilst drawing up plans for matches in 2011/12, SEAL organiser Brad Keogh received confirmation of Brunel's demise from one of their recent former Presidents. It is extremely sad to see a club completely disappear, although amongst established clubs this fate is mercifully rare. Usually their own momentum is able to sustain even small or struggling clubs, but there were clearly problems. Brunel did not compete in any of their scheduled SEAL fixtures last year, recording a perfect line of zeroes.
Brunel's best finish at national university level was 10th at BUSA Outdoors in 2004. The club finished inside the top 16 at every BUSA Championships from the 2002 Outdoors to the 2005 Outdoors.
As previously reported on UKSAA, the club at Manchester University, which flickered into life during the 2009/10 season, has also disappeared. Both clubs have been removed from the Club Directory, although it is to be hoped that they return soon.
SEAL's remaining teams are in the process of re-organising their league structure in a similar manner to SUS, who are themselves copying BUTTS' successful experiment last year. Owing to venue constraints, it now seems likely that 3 venues will play host in each round. Details of fixtures will be published as soon as they are available.
