Over the course of today, the M54 will throng with the student archery minibuses that hope to take away medals, trophies, BUCS points and well-earned hangovers on Sunday.
Coming in to the tournament, it looks difficult to predict a clear winner. Warwick have produced the strongest scores in the regional leagues, including a pair of 2271s, but heavy hitters Nottingham and Edinburgh will both be at full strength. These three look to be the favourites, but BUTTS quartet Oxford, Cambridge Loughborough and Birmingham have all broken 2200 this season, with Keele and Reading notching within one arrow value of that mark.
BUCS points are available for the top 4 in every individual senior category and the top 8 senior team scores. Good luck to all.
Scores for the latest batches of NEUAL and SEAL scores are not yet available, but there have been some results in Scotland. Wins for Edinburgh in the fourth match, mean they win the senior SUS League title for the tenth year in a row and the novice title for the fourth year in a row.
The weekend before BUCS, Edinburgh put in an improved performance with Robbie Crick and Margaux Mesle contributing 565 and 564 towards a team total of 2228. As they have done in all four matches, it was Napier who got closest to Edinburgh - with a total of 2158, Piotr Wojtczuk scoring 562.
This match showed greater strength in depth than has been seen from the Scottish clubs in several years. Also over 2100 were Strathclyde on 2127, who ended Aberdeen's run of third places, Aberdeen on 2115, although they did finish third in the table. Johan Kangasniemi (Aberdeen) and Jamie Paton (Strathclyde) led home their sides with 570 and 567. Dundee were fifth in the match on 2014 and slipped behind Strathclyde in the overall table. Heriot-Watt finished a further 200 behind, with St Andrews even further adrift.
In the novice match Edinburgh's excellent total of 1561 did not quite run away with the match as Napier totalled a response of 1505. Stephanie Clason (Edinburgh) shot 542, whilst Jean Disset (Napier) was top novice gent on 524. Dundee claimed third in the match on 1242, and in doing so secured third place in the table.
SUS Indoors is entirely separate from the SUS League and the 2012 edition will take place in St Andrews on Sat 3rd Mar. Updated SUS League tables are available.
