BUCS Outdoors 2012 will be a FITA Star event, whilst there is a new BUCS Events Co-ordinator.
At BUCS HQ, Francesca Stirling has now taken over from Chris Roberts as as BUCS Events Co-ordinator for Archery, with Ed Curran remaining as BUCS Sports Manager for Archery. Francesca Stirling has now been in her new role since the beginning of March, but unfortunately no headway could be made with getting university hosts for the event, so as in 2011, Archery For Students will run the tournament directly.
BUCS Outdoor Championships will be on Saturday 16th June at Lilleshall NSC on a FITA/Metric I/II, but in 2012 the tournament has been awarded FITA Star status. This means that senior archers can claim badges, rankings and records, all of which is a great boost to the tournament's standing. Novices won't be able to claim stars as they are shooting a round down.
Entries will be via the online BUCScore system and will require an Archery GB membership number. Entries for BUCS Outdoors will open on Tuesday 10th April and will close on Friday 25th May. Pre-event information will be sent out via BUCS Essentials on Tuesday 5th June.
To be eligible however, all archers must submit a qualifying score. Seniors must shoot a 2nd Class score, whilst a 3rd Class score will suffice for novices. The score must be shot at a suitable round i.e. one that provides the opportunity to shoot at the relevant longest distance. To find out what these scores are across the various bow styles, see Archery GB's Shooting Administrative Procedures document, with the relevant tables starting at page 36.
