Keen readers of BUCS' own website may be aware that the Sports Management Groups (SMG) are being replaced by Sports Advisory Groups (SAG) for each sport. However the change runs a little deeper than the acronym. James Cowie had stood down as Chair of last year's SMG and Steven Johnson has been appointed chair of the new SAG. This role, as well as his role with AFS has seen him heavily involved with the organisation of the indoor champs.
There are several other important roles within the new SAG that will soon need to be filled. Could you do any of these? The posts are as follows:
For full details, read the Recruitment document, currently hosted by the BUTTS League website (of which Steven Johnson is the current organiser) and the more detailed Role description document. Steven's email address for this is BUCSArcheryChair@@gmail.com so please read the documents and email him at that address if you are interested or have anything else you'd like to discuss.
At Telford, he would particularly like to know about whether Telford as a permanent venue is a good idea, disabled archery and how it can be included in BUCS and anything else that bothers people in uni archery.
Turning to the 2012 BUCS Championship events themselves, BUCS have confirmed that there have been a whopping 550 entrants for the Indoor Champs and everyone will get to shoot, so this event looks poised to break the existing tournament record of 446 set in 2008 and matched in 2010. The Outdoor Champs still needs a "host" institution, although there is a booking at Lilleshall on Saturday 16th June.
