Increased lead for Warwick [02/Dec/11]
Results from the second BUTTS leg matches left Warwick firmly in control of the senior league after a second consecutive maximum. Warwick took control of the leg and the overall table with a score of 2271. This leaves their rivals trailing almost 50 points behind in this match and to open up a 3 point lead in the overall standings. Defending champions Nottingham slipped under 2200 to 2195 and fourth place in the leg. Oxford's 2225 took them second in the leg and into second place overall, whilst Loughborough were third on 2207.
Further down the table, Cambridge just edged out Birmingham 2153 to 2150, whilst Derby picked up their second win over Nottingham Trent, 2086 to 2064.
Top score in the match was Matt Dale (Warwick) who got a 577, one ahead of George Harding (Nottingham) who in turn was one ahead of Matt Langton (Oxford). Jess Walker (Oxford), Thomas Cram (Loughborough) and Matt Cranham (Warwick) were also over the 570 barrier. What carried Warwick to a 54 point win however was the strength of their third and fourth scores from Jorge Lindley and Rachael Hutchison in the low 560s. Jack Bryant led Birmingham home, also in the low 560s.
In the second novice match, there was a lot of movement relative to the first leg. Birmingham have now grabbed control of the novice league table by winning the second leg with a (team of 4) score of 1919, with Nottingham narrowly ahead of Loughborough on 1874 abnd 1870 in second and third. Birmingham have a three point lead at the top. Top individual novice was Yue Kang (Nottingham) who got 522, with Oliver Snowden (Cambridge), Allan West (Nottingham) and Craig Murch (Loughborough) all also over 500.
