The hosts for the tenth BUTC have been confirmed as Warwick, with the tournament scheduled to take place on Saturday 10th March 2012. The venue is the University's Tennis Centre. Warwick's chief organiser will be Christopher Blake.
Warwick previously hosted BUTC in 2006. The Bray I ranking round was held across two separate halls that year, but the Tennis Centre (built in 2009) can accommodate 4 tennis courts, and thus 16 bosses with ease.
Warwick have an excellent competitive record at BUTC, attending every year since 2004, and having made at least the quarter-finals on every occasion. Their best performances at BUTC were the appearances in both the 2008 and 2009 finals, losing to Edinburgh and Nottingham respectively. Warwick also won bronze in 2004, 2006 and 2007.
They also hold the BUTC record for shoot-offs, having contested 5 of them, with their 3 wins another record (and 2 defeats a co-record with Surrey). Warwick have shot the highest score ever not to win a standard hit-miss match (since 2007, 24 arrows @ 60mm disc) with 15, in both the 2009 final and 2011 quarter-final. Their 2009 performance of 79 hits across 5 matches is a co-record with Edinburgh.
It doesn't seem all that long ago that Napier and Edinburgh co-hosted the 2011 event, where Nottingham picked up their second BUTC title in three years, and ended Birmingham's fairytale run in the final. But come around it has, so keep an eye on the BUTC Tournament Info page of this site and if you haven't done so already, then please 'like' the BUTC Facebook page for all the latest.
