Hot on the heels of Derby's first BUTTS leg win, Nottingham Trent have got in on the act, shooting 2258 to claim their first BUTTS leg victory.
Trent were hotly pursued by Warwick who finished second for the second leg in a row and as a result go top of the league. In match 2, all eight BUTTS clubs finished within 100 points of each other. With so many teams in close proximity, the league table can be shaken up rapidly and so it has proved. Warwick are top on 14 points, followed by leg winners Derby second on 13 and Trent, third on 12. Nottingham are fourth on 9 points.
Ellie Dyson (568), Stephanie Reynolds and Amy Curnock (567 each) powered Trent's triumph, whilst for second placed Warwick, Jorge Lindley shot the only 570 of the match, with 571. Maddie Meatyard and Tom Hall (both Warwick) were also both in the 560s.
After Trent and Warwick, there was a little gap back to the remaining six teams all sandwiched between 2213 and 2160. Nottingham, Derby and Cambridge all finished just the right side of 2200. Richard Haydock's 565 and Luke Bray's 563 took Nottingham to 2213, whilst Derby pipped Cambridge 2204 to 2202. Tom Currall (Derby) got 564, whilst there was 569 and 562 from Cambridge duo Tak Ho and Maryia Karpiyevich.
Every team in the match had a least one archer hit 560, as Birmingham scored 2187 including 561 from Alex Morrell. Kirstie Smith (Oxford) scored 565 as the Dark Blues accumulated 2164 to place seventh. Loughborough finished last despite scoring 2160, 562 of which came from Richard Anderson.
In contrast with the senior table, the BUTTS novice table is relatively orderly, with Loughborough, Birmingham and Derby finishing 1-2-3 for the second time. Davi Simmons (Derby) was top individual on 519 and there were 4 more scores in the 490s, including 3 of Loughborough's quartet.
The next BUTTS fixture is now after Christmas, on the 1st/2nd February. All the totals and updated league standings are here, see the latest BUTTS standings.
With first ever leg wins for Derby and Nottingham Trent, it has been a topsy-turvy high scoring first half of the BUTTS league season. Warwick are defending champions and do look in a good position but the eventual winners of BUTTS league could still come from almost anywhere.
