Derby claimed their first ever BUTTS league match victory to win the 2013/14 season opener. The top six teams all broke 2200 and were sandwiched within 28 points of each other.
The individuals' scores for match 1 have now been added to the latest BUTTS standings.
Derby's winning team total was 2246. Tom Currall and Shaun Rhodes (both Derby) scored 580 and 579, the top two scores in the match. Defending league champions Warwick were in very close attendance on 2244, with Loughborough in third on 2241. Remarkably the entire Warwick team, Maddie Meatyard, Jorge Lindley, Tom Hall and Enrik Nako, posted in the low 560s, whilst for Loughborough, Curtis Tatner notched 576.
Oxford scored 2223, to beat Nottingham Trent's all female quartet by a solitary point. Nottingham were a further four back on 2218. The Light Blues of Cambridge were in seventh despite a respectable 2190 and Birmingham were relatively adrift in 8th, although they did score 2110.
Alex Smith (Oxford) and Richard Haydock (Nottingham) both shot 574, whilst there were efforts in the mid to low 560s from Bilaal Mohammad (Derby), Richard Anderson and Arthur Coveney (both Loughborough), Stephanie Reynolds and Ellie Dyson (both Nottingham Trent) and Maryia Karpiyevich (Cambridge).
The BUTTS novice league uses teams of 4 rather than 3. Loughborough won the first leg here with 1868, with Birmingham breaking 1800 and Derby in third, exactly 100 behind Loughborough. Nottingham rounded off the top half, 10 behind Derby. Novice Davi Simmons (Derby) broke 500 with 511.
The next BUTTS fixture is on the weekend of the 23rd and 24th November in Birmingham and Loughborough.
