December Catch Up pt. 3 [22/Dec/13]

Quick reminder that any archers wishing to take part in the World University Archery Championships in July, must contact Archery GB and BUCS HQ by Saturday 4th January 2014. Warning: there is paperwork! See Internationals section.

Earlier this month, Southampton won SEAL match 2 with 2188 points, with Surrey (2145) and London (2131) swapping places from match 1. Kent were fourth again, sitting on exactly 2050 points - 81 behind third and 135 ahead of Imperial, who were fifth. Sherman Ip (London) was the top individual in the match with 572. Andrew Howe and Nata Chavanich (both Southampton) both shot 566 and there was a score of 563 from Amelie Aichinger (Surrey).

Sixth down to eighth were Reading, Sussex and Essex, who were 15 points apart each, all in the lower 1800s. Brunel finished narrowly ahead of Portsmouth, Queen Mary did not shoot.

London scored a big win in the novice match, missing out on 1500 by a single point. That lifted them well over 100 clear of Southampton in second on 1362. Kent (who won the first novice match) were third, edging out Portsmouth in fourth - Portsmouth's best SEAL finish - 1310 to 1294.

Southampton lead the senior table on 30 points, whist London lead Surrey on points aggregate, the pair on 27 points. Kent are fourth on 24 points. London (29) leapfrogged Kent (28) at the top of the novice table, with Southampton a point behind, see SEAL standings.

In December Catch Up pt. 1, the Scottish Archery Association AGM generated some noise as the SAA Board had said students would no longer be able to vote. It now transpires that this announcement was (more or less) deliberate misinformation. The entire Board actually resigned prior to the AGM. A new board is now in place and the student right to vote has been preserved.

BUTC will be hosted by SEAL leaders Southampton on Saturday 15th February 2014. The entry form will appear early in the new year.

Merry Christmas!
