More of the same from SSS [21/Nov/13]

If the first SSS league fixture of the season was one of SSS's highest scoring and most competitive ever fixtures, the second fixture held seven days later in Dundee and St Andrews, supplied more of the same.

Once again, Edinburgh narrowly claimed maximum points thanks to a trio of 560s from Ben Tseng, Fraser Keir and Roy Hotrabhvanon. These scores gave Edinburgh a team total of 2250. However the highest scores in the match were a massive 583 from Rebekah Tipping (Aberdeen) and 575 from top gent Piotr Wojtczuk (Napier).

Graeme Black (Napier) and Simon Garrett (Aberdeen) contributed 566 and 561 to their sides' totals, but in the end Aberdeen and Napier could not be separated, both teams scoring 2235. Aberdeen's fractionally superior number of golds - 119 to Napier's 115 - meant that they took second place in the match. Strathclyde finished fourth back on 2076, themselves well clear of St Andrews.

In the novice match, Edinburgh were well clear at the top again, with an all female team breaking the 1500 barrier, including 521 from Johanna Meyer. Napier were second back on 1282, but were themselves nearly 200 clear of the chasing pack, led by Aberdeen.

Edinburgh have a two point lead in both the senior and novice tables, although perhaps the aggregate column yields more interesting information. In the SSS senior standings, Edinburgh's aggregate lead over Aberdeen is currently 29. Over third placed Napier it is 34. In the novice league, Edinburgh's aggregate lead over Napier is 408 and is an eye-watering 831 over third placed Dundee.

Results from three of Batch 1's four NEUAL matches have been published. Results from the other one will be published as soon as they are available - which should be very soon. Editorial to follow, but so far there are wins for Liverpool, Sheffield and Huddersfield.
