Today is the last day for entries to BUCS Indoors, online via BUCScore, see BUCS Indoors section for full details.
Today is also the last day of the re-opening of the BUTC entry. Last night Keele added a B team to take the last remaining slot in the main draw. Any entries received now will go first on the waiting list - assuming there have been no more withdrawals. There have been 5 withdrawals to date - a record high - or low, depending on how you look at these things. Latest info on BUTC Tournament Info page.
Perhaps surprisingly SEAL, the "home" league and with 11 clubs, is not that heavily represented in the BUTC 2014 field. Only 6 SEAL unis look set to take part, contributing 10 teams. The largest regional bloc present is BUTTS, who will make up nearly half of the competition, with 8 A and 7 B teams. The last three BUTC champions (Oxford 2013, Loughborough 2012 and Nottingham 2011) have all been BUTTS clubs.
Reminder that the Friday night BUTC social, including optional registration, is at Bar 2 in the SUSU union building from 19:30, see the Info Pack.
BUTTS leg 4 took place on 8th Feb at Warwick and Derby and it proved another very closely fought match. All 8 teams finished within 101 points - and there were some marked effects on the tables. Derby and Oxford were out in front in the match with 2263 and 2257 respectively. Nottingham were third on 2229, with Warwick fourth on 2216. Nottingham Trent's title aspirations came undone as 2162 was only enough for 8th and last. Loughborough were fifth on 2195, whilst the Light Blues of Cambridge overcame Birmingham on hits, both clubs ending on 2183.
Alex Smith (Oxford) top scored in the match on 579, with Derby duo Tom Currall and Shaun Rhodes also in the 570s, with another seven archers in the 560s.
With only the BUTTS Indoor Champs (Trent, 8th Mar) to go, Warwick's two point lead has now evaporated and Derby are now one point clear - 28 to 27 - at the top. Remarkably, both Derby and Warwick have identical aggregates - 8,948 points each. The battle for third is a three way fight and is also incredibly finely poised. Oxford and both Nottinghams have 19 league points. Trent's aggregate is 8,873, whilst Oxford and Nottingham have both got 8,871.
Derby also won the novice match, with Nottingham in second, the leading pair comfortably clear. In the novice table, Derby have 28 points and Birmingham 25. Davi Simmons (Derby) broke the BUTTS league novice record with 557.
