Results from Sept/Oct are now available on the ELeague website. Whilst it is still early in the season and always dangerous to draw conclusions from data which doesn't include many universities, there are already some interesting developments.
Edinburgh, supposedly weakened by graduations posted a fearsome 2316 to ease past Warwick's 2264. In fact the top five senior A sides (Edinburgh, Warwick, Cambridge, Nottingham and Imperial) lined up almost politely at 50 point intervals. Nottingham, promoted in Div 1 last year were impressive in fourth. Edinburgh and Warwick B top Division 2 with relegated Loughborough edging Bath to be the top A side here. Liverpool (Div 3) and Swansea (Div 4) both demolished all their opposition making excellent starts towards consecutive promotions.
Helping Swansea's cause was top gent for the month Rhodri Curnow whose 586 was too much for the 583s of Colin Geenes (Coventry) and Alex Lamb (Edinburgh). Jenny Jeppsson (Edinburgh) had it all her own way in the ladies with 589 and a 24 point gulf to Julie Chenery (Warwick) in second.
Edinburgh's novice team (who all had surnames starting with Z) comfortably claimed top spot, ahead of Nottingham and Keele, the only other sides in the division to enter scores. Individual novices collecting maximum points were Austyn Barker (Liverpool) and Maggie Ziriax (Edinburgh).
A top score of 589 by Jonathan Goodman was not enough to stop Edinburgh pipping Loughborough 1698-1693 in the compound league, to complete a Senior/Novice/Compound team whitewash.
