Napier win SUS Novice League, lose venue [19/Feb/08]

Napier took maximum points from a SUS match for the second time in a week and captured the SUS Novice League championship in the process. They completed a comfortable novice win over Strathclyde and Aberdeen and become the first side apart from Edinburgh to win this title. Napier's seniors made sure of second place in the SUS senior table by squeezing to a 12 point win over Strathclyde. Strathclyde's teams' second placed finish in the match ensured they will finish third in both the senior and novice tables.

Edinburgh wrapped up the SUS Senior title with a routine victory over hosts Aberdeen and St Andrews on Sat 2nd Feb, the results taking a little while to appear. Edinburgh's novices also won to put the pressure on Napier but despite having a significantly higher points aggregate, Edinburgh were forced to settle for second place.

Napier should be celebrating but are instead the club are homeless as their venue is being demolished with no replacement likely to be in place until 2010/11. The timing could hardly be worse, right at the season's sharp end. For the remainder of their indoor campaign, Napier will shoot both indoors at Heriot-Watt and outside in the chilly Edinburgh air. Latest news is that a local school will become Napier's third "permanent" home in four years, either now or in September.

Dundee v Heriot-Watt v Aberdeen will now be a postal match results due to Steve Wicks by Fri 22nd Feb - the same day as the BUTC entry deadline. The SUS H2H Event in Dundee on Sat 23rd Feb is going to run in the same way it did last year. The 32 archers will be ranked and then paired 1 with 32, 2 with 31. The pairs' combined totals will then be ranked and the top ranked pair will compete against the bottom ranked pair, 2nd pair v 15th pair in the first round of 16. KO matches are a dozen arrows each at a ten zone face. SUS Indoor Champs will be in Aberdeen on Sat 15th Mar.
