I hope everyone had a merry Christmas and a happy new year. 2007 was a busy year - there were regional league wins for Exeter, Imperial, Cambridge, Keele and Edinburgh, all winning both senior and novice doubles. It was a successful year for Edinburgh who were made to fight hard but completed a quadruple - winning both BUSAs, BUTC and most ELeague divisions. Honourable mention for Warwick narrowly runners up at BUSA Indoors and in BUTTS. Edinburgh beat Cambridge in the BUTC final for the second year running. Cambridge also hosted BUSA Outdoors, a FITA for the first time, but the Light Blues although well clear in second, were light years behind Edinburgh.
Stats fans may like to know that UKSAA website hits were up by 3.5% over the course of the year, from 13,050 in 2006 to 13,512 in 2007. Not surprisingly the busiest days were around the publishing of national championship results. Interviews have returned as well, with the first interview of 2008 being planned right now. There were seventeen hits were recorded on Christmas Day itself - make of that what you will.
Oxford and Essex both have new/updated web presences, as linked, while in other news SWWU is finally poised to get off the ground with the first leg to be a postal match.
Peering into 2008, the first definitely scheduled league match is a Roses clash, York v Leeds v Lancaster on Sat 19th Jan. Every weekend in February is busy with fourteen currently scheduled regional matches. Heading into March, BUSA have finally confirmed that the Indoors will be on Sat 1st Mar with the venue to be confirmed next week. The entry forms that are not out yet will need to be sent in by Thu 31st Jan, so get scribbling when that is possible. Durham are hosting BUTC on Sat 8th Mar as previously advertised.
