With archery not being invited to the World University Summer Games being held in Bangkok from 8th to 18th August, for the first time since 2001, almost since the UKSAA site began, there is no international event for British student archers this summer.
Therefore there is not very much for UKSAA to report on, although can I remind you all to check the Club Info and Links section to keep it as current as possible.
There are however a few things to keep you entertained during the off season. Currently ongoing are the World Outdoor Championships being held in Leipzig from 7th to 15th July. These will largely determine who qualifies for the Beijing Olympics. Qualifying rounds have taken place and the results are on the tournament website, but it's good news so far as the gents recurve team qualified second and the ladies fourth. Finals days are Sat 14th for the teams and Sun 15th for individuals.
Also the fourth and final qualifier in the Meteksan Archery World Cup 2007, will be held in Dover from 31st July to 5th August. Points gained over the four qualifiers get four individuals from gents/ladies recurve/compound through to the final in Dubai in November. More information on the FITA website under World Cup, or the organising committee's website including ticketing information.
Also on 6th August, immediately after the World Cup event, the British team will have a three way match against China and India, to be held at Lords cricket ground.
