Over the weekend of 2nd/3rd December, there were NEUAL wins for York (on the Saturday) against Durham and Liverpool and Keele (on the Sunday) against Leeds and Lancaster.
York scored 2155, holding off the challenge of Durham who themselves scored 2123, despite Pete Clayton's 576 for Durham. For York, Dave Cox (568) was well supported by top lady Georgina Porter (555) and David Amey (548), but still look a little short of a high fourth score with BUSA in mind. BUTC is a team of three however, so the 2004 BUTC winners could be in the mix here again. The deadline for bids to host BUTC 2007 elapsed at noon on Friday 8th Dec - there will be an announcement on UKSAA shortly.
Durham gained a measure of revenge in the novice match with maximum points ahead of York, 1325 to 1299. Liverpool were third in both team events. Top individual novices were Erik Lang (York) on 478 and Ruth Bedder (Durham) on 473.
Keele scored 2177 to thump Leeds by 200 and Lancaster by almost 500 points. Keele's star man was, again, Andrew O'Connor, who regained the mantle of highest league score of the season with a towering 581. The novice teams finished in the same order. The highest female score was Keele novice (deep breath) Daria Chernoivanova who got 451. David Williams (Keele) was top novice gent, just four points off 500.
Keele and York are now locked together at the top of the NEUAL Senior table on maximum points from two matches. York are ahead on points aggregate, but by the astonishingly thin margin of 3 - York have aggregated 4323 points to Keele's 4320. The league meeting between the two sides, currently scheduled for 10th Feb should be a fierce contest.
