In a correction from the previous match result, London have now been declared the winners of the first SEAL leg of the season. The Londoners' total of 2209 has been upgraded from 2148 thanks to the inclusion of a 559 from David Barnes which had previously been omitted, confusion arising after some Open competitions were used to make up the leg. Southampton's 2202 now gives them second place in the match.
The second SEAL leg has been completed, but results have not yet been fully collated. A full review of the first two SEAL matches will appear in a subsequent review.
SEAL were not the only league issuing corrected results this week. The first SUS league match of the year has been updated with Napier and not Edinburgh as the winners. This new result reverses the order at the top of the SUS novice table, with Napier now leading going in to Christmas, see SUS tables.
Turning to the SWWU results themselves, Exeter comfortably won the first match of the year, with 2122 ahead of Swansea on 2041. Top scorer in the match was Gerda Pociunaite (Exeter) whose 576 put her 27 clear of the top gent in the mach Dave Jenner (Swansea).
Bath were third on 1953, with Plymouth, returning to SWWU, were fourth on 1889. Aberystwyth recorded no score.
In the novice match, the teams finished in the same order with Exeter well clear, one point off 1300, whilst Swansea were second on just over 1100.
SWWU's new format means that it is 10 points for the win, 9 for second and so on. See the latest SWWU tables.
