Both SEAL and SWWU extracted results from BUCS Indoors and both sets of league tables have since been updated. There was also a post-BUCS survey, which received 81 responses, so thanks to those who replied.
The majority said the event organisation was 'very good'. No respondent said the organisation was less than 'good', which is a nice pat on the back for the organisers of such a massive event. For the question of whether a Portsmouth is the correct round, 83% said yes. There were many comments about a possible change to a FITA 18 - as the competition was between 1980 and 1982. This will be fed back to the advisory group who will make a decision for 2014.
In the extracted SEAL match, London's narrow win over Southampton, 2178 to 2170 leaves London on 43 points, 6 ahead of Southampton and almost certain to claim their maiden SEAL crown. Surrey scored 2088, pipping Imperial who notched 2087. Surrey should now finish third in the overall table, but after their dreadful start, Imperial are only one league point behind fourth placed Essex who were fifth in this match, scoring 2048.
As for the SEAL novice table, Southampton came out on top again on 1547, London second again on 1477. Reading were a distant 3rd on 1354 - this result takes them fourth in the table, their DNS in match 2 proving costly. Kent, Porsmouth and Brunel finished within 11 of each other, but crucially for them, Kent's 1276 put them fourth in the match and keeps their overall lead over Reading to 3 points with one match to go.
Exeter took control of SWWU with their second win, but the leg was marked by 3 sides going over 2100 - the first time this has happened in the smallest regional league. Exeter's 2164 was followed by a score of 2138 from Plymouth. Plymouth beat Bath's 2121 into third, with the Welsh sides propping up the leg scores Swansea on 2043 and Aberystwyth on 1890. This result puts Swansea, Bath and Plymouth all dead level on 16 points, all with aggregates within 60 of each other. Exeter are out in front on 20.
In the extracted SWWU novice match, the teams finished in the same order as the first SWWU match leaving the table unaltered. Exeter's 1514 was easily enough to win. Swansea just held off Bath 1370 to 1364.
Top senior scorers across the two matches were David Forster (Brunel) and Gerda Pociunaite (Exeter), both with 573 as well as 571 from Alexander Hickson (Bath). Top novices were Andrew Howe (Southampton) on 545, Chris Self (Exeter) on 540 and Liam Man (Bath) on 535.
Tables for SEAL and SWWU can be seen here. The leagues' next fixtures, match 5 and 3 respectively were scheduled for the weekend just past. Results will be published when available. The NEUAL Indoor Championships took place in Liverpool - no results are yet available for that.
