Exeter won SWWU match 3 with a score of 2162 just enough to beat Bath who were second on 2139. Bath go second in the table as a result. Plymouth were third on 2063 with Swansea fourth on 1978 and Aberystwyth not shooting. Gerda Pociunaite (Exeter) propelled her side to victory with a booming 581, although she had company from Kayleigh Bunker (Plymouth) who scored 573 in response. The top gent in the match was Alexander Hickson (Bath) on 552.
In terms of the league table, Exeter have maximum points from three matches and will now be difficult to catch as Bath, Plymouth and Swansea have all taken points off each other. The three were locked together on 16 points, but Bath are now on 25, with Plymouth on 24 and Swansea on 23, although with two fixtures to go, that could all change.
Exeter also won the novice match clear of Bath, Exeter's 1547 exactly 70 ahead of Bath. Chris Self and Will Tittle (both Exeter) shot 545 and 522, with Liam Man (Bath) on 531, all three making important contributions to their respective senior sides. Exeter have a maximum 30 points here too, with Swansea now on 26 ahead of Bath's 25.
See the latest SWWU standings. SWWU match 5 will be extracted from BUCS Outdoors scores. Match 4 will be outdoors and hosted by Swansea but at Bath, since Swansea's SU sold the field used for archery.
Staying outdoors and in the south west, the British University Clout Championships will run for the second time at Bath on Saturday 28th April. The round is a Double One-Way GNAS Metric Clout i.e. 165m for senior gent recurves and 125m for senior lady recurves, with novices shooting a round down (125m and 110m). The entry form is in the Other Fixtures section, deadline is Friday 19th April.
Last year Alex Hickson (Bath) and Zoe Hawken (Birmingham) came through heavy rain and blustery conditions to win. Hopefully the weather will be kinder this time around.
Results from the London University Shoot for Cause Novice Charity Competition, which included Southampton, Imperial and London, have also been published in the Other Fixtures section. The shoot raised about £200 for the Teenage Cancer Trust. Martin Mojzis (London) and Ally Miller (Southampton) won the novice-only H2H events.
Finally, a reminder that the deadline to submit E-League scores for Round 5, March, is tomorrow, Friday 5th April.
